ANNY: Naked Venus, Sexy Nails

Have you ever seen a (sort of) white polish that isn’t streaky but is opaque in two coats? Naked Venus by ANNY is a very pale pink cream polish that has a perfect formula. I absolutely love it! It’s so clean and fresh and yet so feminine. anny - naked venus - sexy nailsThis is two flawless coats of Naked Venus. I added a bit of Sexy Nails, also by ANNY, on the tips of my nails to give it a little bit of sparkle. I think this combination turned out so pretty and I’ll be definitely wearing it more often. anny - naked venus - sexy nails1What do you think about (off) white polishes?

Catrice: Ombre Top Coat

Hi everyone!

When I saw that Catrice released an Ombre Top Coat I just needed to try it out. I mean, wouldn’t it be great to create an ombre look by just having to apply multiple coats of top coat?

Oh and have you seen their new Luxury Lacquers for Fall? There are eight new shades. This time they come in square shaped bottles which give them a chic look. I will be swatching and reviewing them soon, so stay tuned!

On to the Ombre Top Coat. It looks brownish in the bottle. The formula is extremely liquid and therefore slightly runny. But no worries, with careful application that shouldn’t be a problem. The label on the bottle says: “Get the exclusive Ombre Look on your nail. The Ombre Top Coat turns your light nail polish colour one shade darker with each coat“. It should work with all light colors. Alright, time to put it to the test!
catrice - ombre top coatI used three coats of Lilactric, also by Catrice as my base color. Love this shade! Then I did the following:
pointer: one coat of HK Girl top coat by Glisten & Glow;
middle: one coat of Ombre Top Coat;
ring: two coats of Ombre Top Coat;
pinky: three coats of Ombre Top Coat.

As mentioned, the formula is extremely liquid. Also, I find that it doesn’t apply evenly, meaning you can see some brushstrokes that turned out darker. Nevertheless, I really like the effect that this top coat gives. I do think that it works even better with a non shimmery base color. I will try that soon too. Also, of course I need to try if it works with darker colors, even when the bottle says it’s meant for lighter colors. I’m curious!catrice - ombre top coat1Tell, me… what do you think of this top coat?

Nail Polish Haul – July 2014

Hi everyone!

A bit later than planned I have finally managed to put together my first haul video. I’ve been a good girl last month, if I may say so myself. But honestly, for this haul I started collecting around the second week of July and the ones I purchased last week aren’t included. Anyway, 21 polishes isn’t bad, right? Let’s take a look:

And here’s a list of my new babies 😀

El Corazon: 423-12 – Shimmer

Hi guys!

For all of you that also follow me on Instagram and have seen the picture of the worst-nail-break-ever… it has got to the point that I needed to cut it down with the result that it is now an ultra nubbin *sad face*. I feel like ET for some reason 😦
I have deleted the photo due to the high gross factor (bloody and stuff).

I rarely break a nail and if so, it’s often just a corner. The nail on my index (of my Cinderella hand, thank goodness) had broken on the nail bed. You can imagine how much that hurts. Ugh!
Anyway I just wanted to say thanks for all your sweet comments!

Moving on to today’s polish… 423-12 is part of the Shimmer Collection by El Corazon. The shimmer in this is so fine that it gives the polish a stunning glow. The color remninds me of watermelons. It’s so juicy and squishy. The formula is lovely and a party to work with. This is three thin coats plus top coat:el corazon - 423-12 shimmerel corazon - 423-12 shimmer1

El Corazon: 239 – Impression Collection

Have you always wanted a nude polish with silver shimmer? 239 from the Impression Collection by El Corazon might be what you’re looking for. el corazon - 239 impressionThis is a beige toned nude hue packed with silver shimmer. The shimmer is more noticeable and even prettier in real life. Although you could get away with two coats I used three thin coats instead. I added two butterfly water decals, also by El Corazon, on my accent nail. These water decals are a little more difficult to work with than I’m used to. I think that’s because they seem thicker and therefore have the tendency to not lay flat on the nail (wrinkles). A little tip that I found makes it easier to apply is to gently dab on the decal with a wet finger. That way you can smoothen it out. Also, this particular design is holographic! It is gorgeous but I think that my top coat has eaten the holo effect. Boo! So now they are just silver which I think suits this polish nice. el corazon - 239 impression1What do you think about this?

Dance Legend – Panandji

A super bright textured polish! Yes! This is Panandji from the Sahara Crystal Collection by Dance Legend:dance legend - panandjiCan you believe that this is even brighter in person? My camera totally freaked out seeing this. This is one of my fave polishes for Summer. Gorgeous! It’s not gritty and has no obvious shimmer or glitter. Just a perfect neon! This is two coats, no top coat. It needs a little more attention during application meaning you’d better go with 3 quick strokes per nail instead of painting over the same stroke again. Does that make sense? I hope so. If you go over the same spot twice it will leave brush strokes. dance legend - panandji1Have a great weekend! :*

Tie Dye Nails – Tutorial

I’ve seen many (mostly neon colored) tie dye manicures so I needed to try it for myself. I made a video tutorial for you guys in case you might want to try them yourself. tie dye1A step by step guide and a list of which products I’ve used is listed below.

How to:

  • Use a base coat to protect your nails and wait for it to dry.
  • Use a small nail art brush and 3 different colors of polish for the design. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Just paint tiny stripes next to each other to get a swirl design.
  • Add a coat of fast drying top coat for a glossy and long lasting result.
  • Clean up with a small (eye liner) brush and acetone or nail polish remover.
  • Treat your cuticles with a few drops of cuticle oil and you’re done!

Products used:

  • Yellow Stopper (as a peel off base coat)
  • Essence Everybody Salsa (green)
  • Essence Yeah, Copacobana! (yellow)
  • Essence I ♥ Brasil (pink)
  • Sally Hansen Insta Dri (top coat)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comments below! Ideas and requests for upcoming tutorials are very welcome! 😉

I hope you enjoyed this video! :*
