For the ‘vampy’ theme of the ‘The Never Ending Pile Challenge’ I picked Bloody Return by ANNY and Sardonyx by Models Own:Bloody Return is a dark red crelly with a nice formula. I started with two coats and waited for it to dry completely. Then I used nailvinyls and added Sardonyx on the tips of my nails. I ended up liking the rubber-isch look of Bloody Return so I didn’t add top coat.
Models Own released their Speckled Eggs Collection a while back. The colors are perfect for Spring (and Summer), all soft/pastel hue’s packed with three sizes black hex glitter. This is three thin coats of Dove plus top coat:Isn’t it lovely?! 😀

Let’s take a look at the Beetlejuice Collection by Models Own. I can’t believe that this collection has been laying around in my stash untried for months! Continue reading
Today I have the Splash Collection by Models Own to show you:
This collection consists of five sheer shades with flakies 😀 You all know I’m a huge fan of flakies, so I was very excited when this collection came out. Honestly, the formula of these is not a pleasure to work with. It’s kind off thick and gloopy. The flakies are stubborn and have a tendency to stick out, even with a generous coat of top coat. Also, the base colors seem so pretty, but are extremely sheer on there own.
That said, on to the swatches!
My camera couldn’t get Pink Paradise captured as how it looks in real life. Here it looks like there are small strips of glitter in the formula, but they just aren’t there. Also, it looks like I’ve done a gradient on the nails of my ring finger and pinky. Look at the difference in color! Sorry guys! Check out Eeeek!’s swatch here for a more color accurate pic.
This is one coat over Kiss Me On My Tulips by OPI.This is one coat of Aqua Splash over Pool girl by ANNY:Mermaid Tears is my favorite from these five. I think that’s because of the purple/teal blue shifting flakies. Shown here is one coat over Snow revolution by ANNY:And here is one coat of Golden Shore over A Roll In The Hague by OPI:Last but not least Red Sea, shown here over Woman in red by ANNY:Overall, I’m a bit disappointed by this collection. I like the color shifting flakies, don’t get me wrong. It’s just that I feel like the formulation of these is a big bummer 😦 Maybe I’m spoiled by Nfu Oh’s fantastic flakies. So, I think I’ll stick to them 😉
How do you feel about these? Have you tried them?
You can buy them online at the Models Own website for £5.00 each or £20.00 for the entire collection. They ship internationally!
From the first moment I saw the Ice Neon Collection by Models Own I knew I needed to have it. Thanks to Brijit from Brijit’s Digits, who generously picked up these babies from her trip to the UK for me, they are now part of my stash. Thanks so much girl! *mwah mwah* According to Models Own: “The only way to keep fluoro really bright is to KEEP IT COLD! We’ve packed this collection in specially-designed frosted bottles that you should keep refrigerated to protect the intense fluoro colour from fading. These on-trend neon shades bring summer alive with fluoro flavour, bold and bright”. First things first:
I have to say, I had a hard time capturing these colors on camera. I tried my very best to get the most color accurate pictures. Don’t mind the difference in color of my skintone. That’s what my camera does when it freaks out from all the brightness 😉
I started this swatching fest with the yellow one and discovered that the only way I could get an opaque, bright and color accurate finish is when I layer it over white undies. So, these swatches are all with a base coat, one sheer coat of white polish, two coats of color and NO top coat (unless otherwise mentioned).
Also, these all dry extremely quick. By that I mean, it dries while applying. Yes, that fast! I found that I get the best result by working fast and applying the polish ‘flowing’. Otherwise you’ll definitely get brush strokes. And let’s face it, nobody want that!
That said, get your sunglasses ready, because some of these may hurt your eyes!
Pink Punch, a medium neon pink hue with strong corally undertones. Great shade for Spring and Summer!Luis Lemon, the brightest neon yellow I’ve seen so far! Amazing! The only one that just refused to get color accurate on camera is Pukka Purple. In real life this is way more purple and brighter! Unlike the others from this collection, this don’t need white undies. This is so extremely pigmented that I believe it only requires one coat for full opacity without undies. Also, the formula is really thick, almost rubbery. Not the easiest one to work with. As the name says Toxic Apple is just toxic! My goodness, look at the brightness. If this wasn’t my own swatch, I believe it when someone told me this is a glow in the dark polish of which the picture is taken in the dark. This picture is, as usual, taken in daylight. For real! I totally love this! The hot pink neon hue from this collection is called Bubblegum. In one word: love! What do you think of this collection? Which one(s) is/are your favorites?
The formula of all of these is a dream to work with. The application went smooth and easy. It was a bit streaky but it leveled out very nicely to a smooth finish. They need two coats to get full opacity. Thumbs up for that! If you love pastels -like I do- then this collection needs to be added to your stash! You won’t regret it, believe me.
Of course I was very curious about the whole ‘scented thing’. They all have a very nice subtle smell. And even with top coat the smell is still present. It’s not overwhelming at all but it’s very subtle. I love it!All swatches have a base coat, two coats of color and a top coat.
What do you think about this collection?
Ps.: Models Own also released their Ice Neon Collection. Do you have (any of) that collection? I’m lemming over them and love to know if they are as pretty as I think they are 😉 Please let me know!
Thanks for watching! Keep on painting 🙂
