China Glaze – Avant Garden Collection (Spring 2013)

Today I have my six picks of the Avant Garden Collection by China Glaze to share with you.china glaze avant garden 2013All swatches have a base coat, two coats of color and one coat of Seche Vite.

Keep calm, paint on, a mint green cream with lots of fine silver shimmer. The formula is on the thick side but the application went fine. A great shade for Spring!cg keep calm, paint on
Tart-y for the party, a lilac cream. The formula is again on the thick side and the first coat is was a little bit streaky. The second coat smoothened it out to a lovely opaque shade. cg tart-y for the party
Fade into hue, a lovely periwinkle cream. The formula is slightly thin and tends to run. But the application went fine. The first coat was a bit sheer but the second coat -surprisingly- made it completely opaque. cg fade into hue
Life is rosy, a dusty rose pink cream. The formula is great. The first word that popped in my mind after I applied this was ‘vintage’. Don’t ask me why 😉cg life is rosy
Passion for petals, a bright red cream with lots of pink undertones. Formula is great and easy to work with. Love this! cg passion for petals
Snap my dragon, a bright red shimmer with magenta undertones. This is my favorite of these six. The formula is perfect! I just love how it glows magenta in some lightning 🙂cg snap my dragon
Did you pick up any of the Avant Garden Collection? Which one(s) is/are your favorite?

Splattered “Who’s wearing what”

Today I’ve been playing with blue and white aquarel paint. Let me tell you, there were blue and white spots everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE! I even discovered some in my hair! 🙂 After a big clean up, this is the final result:
splatterFor the base I’ve used Who’s wearing what from China Glaze. It’s a dusty grey based lilac which gets opaque in two coats. I had a little bit trouble with the formula bacause it is quite streaky, which was still visible after the second coat. But one coat of Seche Vite almost completely evened that out. I expected this to belong to the pastel family, but I think it’s too taupe for that.
This polish is retired but still available on Ebay.

China Glaze Def defying, Escaping reality, Creative fantasy – Cirque du Soleil collection

China Glaze has recently released their “Cirque du Soleil” collection and I have picked up these three:china glaze cirque du soleilL to R: Creative Fantasy, Escaping reality, Def defying.

Escaping reality, a bright -almost neon- pink cream. This is my favorite of the three. I’ve used two coats here plus one coat of Seche Vite.china glaze escaping reality 2china glaze escaping reality
Creative fantasy, a medium blue cream. The formula is sheer and patchy, and leans a bit to jelly. This one dries up semi-matte, almost rubbery. I can’t help thinking this one is more a blurple then a medium blue. I’ve used two coats here plus one coat of Seche Vite.china glaze creative fantasy 2china glaze creative fantasy
Def defying, a bright lime green cream with yellow undertones. I’ve used two coats here plus one coat of Seche Vite. Be warned: this one stains!china glaze def defying 22china glaze def defying

China Glaze For Audrey

china glaze for audreyI can’t tell you how much I adore China Glaze’s For Audrey. This almost tiffany/blue pastel cream is one to love. After one coat there were some visible brush strokes, but a second coat evened that out. Perfect for Spring don’t you think?
I’ve created the leopard print with OPI’s You Don’t Know Jacques! and Zoya’s Purity (thanks so much Louise!) and finished with one coat of Seche Vite.

China Glaze Robotika

Robotika from China Glaze’s Khrome Collection 2009 is a warm bronze chrome. I’ve used two thin coats that dried very quick. Given my experience with chrome’s (or metallics) I’ve used top coat (Seche Vete) to make sure that it lasts longer.

A swatch of Sci-Fi (the silver chrome from this collection) is coming one of these days. Do you own any of the shades of this collection?

China Glaze It’s Alive

A while back I came across this swatch at Misshollyberries and immediately knew I needed to have this polish. China Glaze’s It’s Alive from their Halloween collection 2011 is a ‘dirty’ olive green jelly base filled with round and hexagon green glitter. I’ve used two coats here and finished with one coat of Seche Vite. Pretty awesome don’t you think? 🙂
