Essence – Superheroes Collection

essence - superheroesEssence recently released their Superheroes Collection. Especially the thermal polish and the duo chrome polish caught my immediate attention. What I like most about this collection is the variety of finishes. Therefore I needed to have the entire collection. Yeah, what kind off excuse is that? But hey… I’m a hoarder and can’t help myself 😀essence - superheroes bottlesScroll down for the swatches!

First up Wonder Wow! Man!, a gold foil. Nothing we haven’t seen before, but still pretty. Where other foils/metallics that I’ve tried dried very fast, this one has an average drying time. This is two coats, no top coat.essence - wonder wow! man!It seems that the textured trend keeps going on. I don’t mind! Here’s The Incredible, a bright blue hue with a ‘sand effect’. Not as gritty as for example OPI’s Liquid Sand shades. It has a slight textured finish to the touch. Really pretty! This is two coats, no top coat. I think I could have got away with one generous coat though. essence - the incredibleAnd this is The Awesome, a pink jelly packed with multi size glitter. The description on the sticker of the cap of the bottle says ‘Galaxy Flakes’. I really don’t get that but it is a pretty polish for sure. Very girly. I needed three coats (plus top coat) for the photo below. You can still see some VNL, which I don’t mind. essence - the awesomeFantastic Girl is a pink/purple thermal polish. I love this one! The formula is great. It needs to be mentioned that the color change effect doesn’t last very long. I mean, at room temperature I could see a slight difference in color of my nail bed and tips, but not extremely noticeable and it faded away in seconds. I used three coats with no top coat here. essence - fantastic girl - transitionBelow you can see how it looks when it’s cold:essence - fantastic girl - cold and warm:essence - fantastic girl - warmThe duo chrome polish of this collection is called Power Girl and shifts from cyan blue to purple. The color shift isn’t very strong but very pretty! It’s a shame that I couldn’t capture the color shift with my camera. Sorry guys! It’s there and it’s pretty! This is two easy coats, no top coat:essence - power girlLastly, Super Man!, the ‘holo effect’ polish. I do wish that this was a linear holo. It’s a foil-ish/metallic silver base with holographic glitter. The holo effect of the glitter is super strong. You don’t need sunlight to see it. Thumbs up for that! Although I’m not sure if I really like this one, it’s pretty for a night out. I used two coats plus top coat for the photo below but I could have definitely reached full opacity with one generous coat.essence - super man!It is extremely rare if I can purchase an entire new collection by Essence (or Catrice) before it’s sold out over here. Everything is always sold out the day that it’s stocked. So annoying!

A huge shout out for Daphne (Daily Nails Art) for sending me the last two polishes that I was missing from this collection 😀 Thanks sweetie!

So, what do you think of this collection? Any favorites?

  1. I like Fantastic Girl, Awesome and Super Man. It is hard for me to find Essence polishes around here, but I might need to really try. I have been on a polish buying fast for a while and need to treat myself.
