Happy Wednesday everyone!
With Halloween right around the corner I see Sugar Skulls mani’s everywhere. I’ve always loved them but never tried them myself. So here’s my first attempt:
For this mani I used Purity by Zoya as my base color. And I used black acrylic paint to paint the skulls and the spiderweb. Normally I use a black polish for nail art but since it’s my first time I chose to play safe. Any mistakes can easily be fixed with acrylic paint π The ‘eyes’ are fimo slices and I’ve placed rhinestones as the cheeks. Here’s how its made:1. After the white polish is completely dry, use a medium sized striper and black acrylic paint (or polish) to start with the ‘mouth’.
2. Paint the tooth π
3. Use a big sized dotting tool to dot two dots right next to each other.
4. Use a striper to paint the ‘nose’.
5. With a dotting tool dot three dots and use a striper to transform the into teardrops.
6. After the design is completely dry, add your favorite top coat and place the fimo slices and rhinestones.
I’ve made a step by step pictorial for the spiderweb design too. I think that the pics speak for themselves π If not, please let me know!Ps.: I thought about making this design matte before placing the fimo slices and rhinestones. At the end I didn’t. If you prefer it matte I recommend to ‘seal’ the design with ‘regular’ top coat before you use a matte top coat. That will prevent smearing π
For a first try I think I didn’t turned out that bad at all. What do you think?
